Early Medieval pottery cooking pot
Fragment from a cooking-pot with a faceted rim defined externally by a slight groove and internally by a marked groove or lid rebate: Form E1. The core of the sherd is pink, but the internal and external surfaces are respectively deep grey and pale through firing in a reducing atmosphere. Hard fabric with much quartz and some grog.
