Early Iron Age bronze rod plate
Complete cast rod plate. The inner side of the upper plate matched the contours of the ribs, groooves and rivet hotels of handle strap 2005.4H/1.8. When refitted, it is apparent that the rod plate projects about 2mm beyond the attachment plate. The lower rod plate has a flattened upper surface which has been welded to the cauldron wall below the rim. A small fragment of cauldron sheet remains adhered to the upper surface of the lower rod plate.
