Roman copper alloy lug
A heavy cast lug, with seating for a drop-handle, for a large vessel. The escutcheon is of a debased palmette design. The lack of any means of attachment suggestes it may have been soldered to the vessel to which it was attached. It shows curvature in two planes, suggesting it was attached to a circular vessel.
