Medieval iron sword
Iron cruciform sword with long, bevelled blade tapering at tip/point. Narrow bar guard which is rounded in section and with a spherical knop at each end. The bar thickens slightly at junction with grip. Disc-shaped pommel with bevelled edges.
English two-handed sword, about 1450. This sword from Slebech, south-west Wales, is still used by the Order of St John at services and investitures.
