Lewis Merthyr Colliery, film negative
Black and white film negative of a photograph showing the Royal visit to Lewis Merthyr Colliery, 27 June 1912. Photograph is titled 'The Queen and the shy colliery boy'. Following their coronation King George V and Queen Mary toured the South Wales Coalfield and paid a visit to a Rhodda pit. A special tram was built for the Queen and drawn by a colliery pony. The collier boy on the right (R. Morris), due to make a presentation, is overcome by shyness.
