Roman copper alloy brooch
Bridge brooch, with characteristic broad highly arched bow. Serrated along the sides the bow has a central rectangular panel with transverse ribs on either side. The central rectangle may originally have contained enamel decoration but now too corroded to detect even the settings for it. A narrow projection at the foot carries the catch-plate, this is mirrored at the head giving a symmetrical appearance to the brooch.
