Teapot and cover
Teapot, creamware, globular with inset base, rouletted foot ring and rim, double intertwined loop handle with moulded and incised leaf terminals, leaf-moulded S-shaped spout, slightly conical cover with vertical flange, rouletted edge and replacement bulbous knop, cover and knop pierced; enamelled in red and black with feathery scrollwork cartouche on each side containing the inscriptions 'Wilkes / & Liberty / No, 45.' and 'Wilkes / & / Liberty', scrolled border on cover.
This teapot was made to commemorate the radical English politican, John Wilkes (1727-1797).
