Ice-cream pail cover
Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Ice-cream pail cover, soft-paste porcelain with white translucency, shallow domed base with projecting slightly sloping rim and vertical flange, slightly flaring gallery or collar with turned groove just below the top, in the centre two concentric ridges within which stands the double-scroll handle; the gallery enamelled on both sides with an apple-green ground and flowers within four shaped oblong reserves, these framed with elaborately gilded scrolls and flowers, two larger flower sprays enamelled on the domed base, the handle and rim gilded.
