S.S. FORT LA TRAITE (7134gt). North Sands type built December 1942 by West Coast Shipbuilders Ltd., Vancouver, for MoWT (managed by Evan Thomas & Radcliffe Ltd., Cardiff). 1947 – Returned to the US Maritime Commission. 1948 – Sold to “Italnavi” Soc di Nav per Azioni,Genoa, and renamed ITALSOLE. 1949 – Converted to diesel and used as a car carrier for the Fiat car company. 1965 – Sold to Lloyd’s Africa Ltd., Monrovia, and renamed FREEPORT.
