Figure of a boy with fife, soft-paste porcelain, mounted on a pedestal with concave cylindrical sides and spreading notched foot-rim, the sides of the pedestal composed of four raised panels with perforations in between, the panel to the front moulded with two drums, drumsticks and two balls, to the top of the pedestal the figure stands on a round base moulded with c-scrolls, the figure clad in Eighteenth century costume with cocked hat with a plume of feathers, coat, unbuttoned waistcoat, knee breeches, and plain shoes, the figure holds a fife up to its mouth, the figure supported by a tree stump with moulded applied flowers; the figure painted in polychrome enamels with realistically painted face, pinkish hat with multicoloured feathers, pink, blue and yellow coat, floral patterned waistcoat, pink and blue striped breeches and black shoes, the fife painted yellow, the applied moulded flowers painted in yellow, blue and green, the base picked out in puce, green and gilt, the pedestal picked out in puce with three of the panels painted with polychrome sprays of flowers and the fourth painted with a flag behind the moulded musical instruments.
