Dinorwic slate quarry, photograph
A view for the bottom of the C1 incline, Dinorwig Quarry showing two men with a slate filled wagon being rope hauled down an incline. The photograph has been taken from the Sinc Fawr level, and is looking westwards towards the Hafod Owen sidings. In the sidings at the bottom of the incline can be seen two parked rakes of Ruston tipper waggons, and also two rakes of waggons for finished slates, waiting to be sent up the incline to the mills on the upper level. The loaded waggons went down the cable inclines in groups of three, pulling empty wagons back up the incline with their weight on the cable. The rakes are moved around by the small diesel locomotive visible to the right of the three wagons in the rake second from the rear.
