Chelsea Porcelain Factory

Candlestick, soft-paste porcelain, chamberstick fable model based upon Aesop's Fable story, on rococo style base with three legs and scrolling picked out in gilt, the top of the base is green with applied flowers of puce, blue and red, a large complicated bocage in the form of a flowering May tree at rear with clusters of applied hand modelled white flowers with intermingled puce and, orange and blue, flowers, upon the base is the fable scene depicting three peacocks wearing crowns, the largest stands proudly upright in the centre, to its right another pheasent leans accross preening a smaller pheasent to its left, the bocage leads into candle holder with circular cross section, lip at bottom of candle holder is shaped into petal formation, five pierced holes with moulded edges are evenly spaced around the circumference of the holder and has a shaped rim edge, touched in green and gilt, handle with very simple moulding low at back; glazed with area on tail of central pheasent being missed
