Tobaccco-box or snuff-box, tin-plate, oval form with straight sides and slightly domed cover; the interior covered with a black japan, the exterior covered with a tortoiseshell japan of a reddish tone to the box itself and of a brownish tone to the cover, the underside of the cover inscribed in gilt "ELLIS. BUTTON. / of Ufculmb (sic.) / 1747."
