Obverse. Exactly the same imagery as on the Third Seal (2000.44H/80), save for the arms and the legend. In the latter, Britanniarvm replaces Mag • Brit, and the reference to France (as also in the arms) is omitted. The arms are akin to those of George I, but with differences: 1.and 4. ENGLAND; 2. SCOTLAND; 3. IRELAND; overall an escutcheon ensigned with the Electoral bonnet or cap: 1. Two lions passant guardant in pale, BRUNSWICK, 2. semy of hearts, a lion rampant, LUNEBURGH; 3. a horse courant, SAXONY; on an inner escutcheon the crown of Charlemagne, for the ARCH-TREASURERSHIP OF THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE. Cabled border.
