St. John's medal
Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Lifesaving Medal, second type, bronze. Awarded to Mr Albert Gubb following his heroic rescue of a workmate trapped beneath a roof fall at Cribbwr Colliery, Kenfig Hill in 1926.
Circular medal hung on a black ribbon with clasp pin attachment. One side has St. John's cross at centre with words 'FOR SERVICE IN THE CAUSE OF HUMANITY' around it. The other side has flowers with words 'JERUSALEM ENGLAND' at centre, with words 'AWARDED BY THE GRAND PRIORY OF THE ORDER OF THE HOSPITAL OF ST. JOHN OF JERSUSALEM IN ENGLAND' around. There is an inscription around edge.
Medal is in original case (1999.35/5).
