Welsh costume petticoat
Striped woollen petticoat from the Newcastle Emlyn area, 19th century.
Warm, hardwearing and easy to brush clean, flannel was the fabric of choice for many working women in Wales. This petticoat was made in the late 1800s and would have been worn with layers of cotton undergarments.
