Early Bronze Age faience bead
Early Bronze Age star-shaped faience bead
It has six points and is made from faience – a blue glass-like material made by shaping and firing a mixture of sand, water, plant ash and copper. It was found just 1m away from a round amber bead (92.46H/322.1) in the Late Bronze Age rampart at The Breiddin hillfort. It is possible that they were originally from the same necklace, perhaps from a burial that was disturbed when the hillfort was constructed in the 8th century BCE.
Mae ganddo chwe phwynt ac mae wedi’i wneud o faience – deunydd glas tebyg i wydr a wnaed trwy danio cymysgedd o dywod, dŵr, lludw pren a chopr Daethpwyd o hyd iddo dim ond 1m i ffwrdd o lain ambr cylchog (92.46H/322.1) yn y rhagfur o’r Oes Efydd Ddiweddar ym mryngaer Breiddin. Mae’n bosibl eu bod yn dod o’r un mwclis yn wreiddiol, efallai o laddedigaeth o’r Oes Efydd Gynnar y tarfwyd arni pan adeiladwyd y fryngaer yn y 10-9fed ganrifoedd CC.
Star-shaped beads have been found with Early Bronze Age burials in Scotland and southern England dating to 1950-1500 BCE.
Mae gleiniau siâp seren wedi cael eu canfod gyda chladdedigaethau o’r Oes Efydd Gynnar yn yr Alban a de Lloegr sy’n dyddio o 1950-1500 CC.
