Post-Medieval silver gilt whistle
Small whistle or call made of silver sheet, which has been gilded. It's small size suggests a possible use as a dress accessory or even a hawking whistle. The object is complete and has a short narrow tubular gun, a moulded mouthpiece and another moulding towards the buoy, both with fine central grooves. The plain spherical buoy has a singe rib moulding around the circumference, also with a central groove. A short, plain 'keel' beneath the gun runs up to a small plain suspension or attachment ring on its underside. There is no maker's mark or decoration.
