Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch
The bow has only a slight curve and tapers gradually towards the foot; it is decorated with two grooves running longitudinally down the centre and one groove along each outer edge of the bow; each groove is further ornamented with a dot ornament, which sometimes wanders from the line. Below the moulding the foot narrows sharply, terminating in a knob. There is a small trapezoidal catchplate. The pin is hinged on an iron pivot. End of pin missing
