Washing machine
Coopered wooden tub with a ribbed interior fitted onto 3 extended wooden legs. Metal gearing mechanism mounted on hinged wooden lid and activated with a lever-type handle to operate 5 wooden dolly within tub (lever handle missing). Gearing protected with a wooden box-type cover. Illegible traces of maker's stamp in black paint on tub.
A coopered washing machine with mechanised dolly. This early washing machine was an attempt at mechanising the dolly, the boiling copper and the washboard. Its only drawback was that the clothes tended to tangle around the dolly.
