Roman copper alloy Aucissa brooch
Fragment of the head of an inscribed Aucissa brooch. The lost pin was hinged on an iron pivot, secured in a bronze casing folded over onto the front of the bow. The extant fragment of the upper part of the bow is badly damaged but the letters VCIS are still visible above the longitudinal mouldings which decorate the arched bow.
