A french fisherboy
JOHN, Augustus (1878-1961)
'A French Fisherboy 'was painted while John was travelling along the north coast of France, near Condette. In subject and style the painting betrays the influence of Pablo Picasso. John visited Picasso's studio in Paris in 1907. In Picasso's "Blue Period" (1901-1904) he often painted figures on the margins of society in sombre blue tones.
