"The VE day bank holiday was a highlight for many during the pandemic. Socially distant street parties popped up all over the UK. At this one in Bedford Road, in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend the neighbours moved the cars up the road to clear a space for tables and chairs to be laid out at 2 metre gaps. It was a very convivial atmosphere and a break from the isolation of staying at home. It was a time of great kindness and coming together. My neighbours who I don’t really socialise with were all out and drinking as the sun went down. It was a great occasion and would not have happened with as much enthusiasm were it not for the pandemic. We listened to music from the 1940s and people shared their various home brewed wines and sloe gin. When people walked/jogged/cycled past they were cheered and it was a very fun affair" (Hywell from Cefn Cribwr).
