3/4 port stern view of S.S. DALEMOOR at Cardiff Docks, c,1936.

The two images appear on the same negative strip and replace the original glass neg which was broken.

POSSIBLY : - (a) German ship ARKADIA (1756gt possibly too heavy?) Built 1927 by Neptun AG, Rostock, Germany as the German cargo steamer AMSEL. In 1936 she was renamed ARKADIA. She struck a mine and sank on April 29th, 1943, in the Black Sea off Constantza. OR :- (b) mv. ARKADIA (853gt) : Built 1866 by Barclay, Curle & Co., Glasgow, as passenger steamer CUMBERLAND (o/n 55037) for Liverpool & Hamburg Steamship Co., Liverpool. 1868 - Sold to J. Buchanan of Glasgow. She was lengthened in 1869. 1877 - Sold to the Leith, Hull & Hamburg Steam Packet Co. (J. Currie & Co), Leith. She sank on 11th September 1911 in the lower reaches of the Elbe following a collision with the German steamer HELEN HEIDMANN. 1921 - Raised and rebuilt to 904gt with a 6-cylinder oil engine by Dansk Dieselmotor Kompagni, Holeby as mv. LISA for Rederi A/B “Ossian”, managed by Petterson & Palen, Nettraby. 1931 - Managed by Carl Dahlberg, Kivik 1936 - Sold to Rousso Bros & Louloudi Bros., Andros, and renamed ARKADIA. 1939 - Transferred to Atlantic Shipping Co. Ltd., Piraeus (same name). 1941 - Fell into German hands in May and renamed KRETA. She was sunk by the submarine HMS TURBULENT off Ras-el-Hilal, Libya on 8th October 1942., (ref Lloyds Registers 1937-8) (http://www.svenskafartyg.se/skeppslista/LISA_(1866))
