Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'War', showing a scene of destruction with a fallen horse with the figure of a dead soldier sprawled across it, another dead horse and a shattered wall, to the lower left-hand side of the scene is printed the inscription "J. AUSTIN Sc", around the bottom of the scene is printed the inscription "WAR", the print enclosed by a narrow circular dotted border. The glaze crazed.
