North Sands type built 1943 by West Coast Shipbuilders Ltd., Vancouver, for the Canadian Government, managed for MoWT by Ernest R. Mund, London. 1950 – Sold to Greek owners and renamed GEORGE K. 1956 – Sold to Liberian owners and renamed AFRICAN MARQUIS. On the 25th February 1958, she ran aground on Kassos Island, north east of Crete, broke in two, and sank.
