Mug and cover
Mug and cover, earthenware, the mug, standing on a stepped, waisted foot rim, cylindrical body ending in a flanged rim; simple ogee handle; the cover, with vertical sides, a flat upper surface, domed disc finial; transfer- printed in dark brown with imari style foliage and flowers, overpainted in iron-red, turquoise, blue, green and yellow enamels, issuing from a baluster vase, decorated with a dragon standing on a grass and rock detailed surface, overpainted in pale pink, two blue butterflies hovering above the flowers; similar polychrome flowers in a sprig to handle and in a circular band of three sprigs around the upper side of the cover, similar floral motif to finial, cross-hatched and petalled geometric-style border interspersed with iron-red flower heads within double foliate cartouches to foot rim and sides of cover.
