Smock
Child's coat-type smock. Made for the donor's grandmother by a smock-maker at Llanfair Caereinion in the early 20th century.
Made from beige cotton, embroidered with thin glazed linen thread. Buttoned square flap collars. Seven bone button fastening. Two flapped pockets. The smocking stitches are wave, outline and cable. The embroidery on the collars annd pocket flaps is done in herringbone, feather and chain. Each collar flap has a large central heart motif framed with zig-zags and decorated with three pearl buttons.
