Medieval pottery vessel
Vale fabric (fabric 4) The fabric has a grey core with orange or orange-brown surfaces, characterised by numerous small ferruginous sands. The fabric occurs in periods 1 and 2, the minimum number of vessels amounting to only four; rim sherds are largely absent. This pottery is clearly recognisable as Vale Fabric (detailed in Vyner 1982, 31-7), and Loughor appears to be at the western end of its distribution area (Vyner 1987, 29-31).
