Roman copper alloy seal box
The base of a rectangular seal bow. The base has three ciruclar piercings. The two long walls are notched to receive the string which secured the package and the seal was applied to hot wax poured over the knot in the centre of the seal box. Two hinge leaves remain but the lid is lost.
