Seal impression: Collegiate
Seated within two canopied niches, dext. St Peter holding his key; sin. St Paul holding a sword. Borne on tabernacle-work to either a shield: two chevronels between three roses, WILLIAM OF WYKEHAM (bishop of Winchester, founder in 1373). On the plinth below, the inscription: Wikehm eps fndator. Under a double canopy above, the Annunciation: the archanglel gabriel holding a scroll inscribed: ave maria, and addressing the Blessed Virgin . In base, under a rounded arch, Bishop William, half-length, in prayer, his staff beside him. To either side a human face, haloed or cowled, set in window.
