Dinorwic slate quarry, photograph
Photograph showing a group of six workers at Dinorwig Quarry. The photograph was taken during the building of Dinorwig Quarry’s brick plant (known locally as Gwaith Brics or Gwaith Llwch) at Muriau (one of Dinorwig Quarry’s ponciau / galleries). In 1965 Dinorwig Quarry opened the brick plant in an effort to use the millions of tonnes of slate rubble. Bricks and tiles were made by mixing the slate rubble with cement.
