Caption from exhibtion "Gadlys School, 1953-4 (Wayne Bending) Julian Mears interviewed his mother who started in Aberdare Girls' Grammer School in 1956. 'I remember there was a daily assembly held in the Main Hall for the whole school. The day was seperated into 7 lessons, 4 in the morning and three in the afternoon. My form room had rows of desks with lids and any books not required for the days lessons were kept there. I always remember having to take indoor and outdoor shoes to school. Discipline was strict and any girl caught outside without their beret on meant detention. Three detentions meant being sent to the Headmistress and a 'fault mark'. A fault mark was a disgrace against yourself and your house. Every Wednesday a list of pupils receiving fault marks was read out in front of the whole school'"
