Hot water bottle cover in the form of the Teletubby character Laa-Laa, late 1990s.
The Teletubbies was first aired on the BBC in 1997 on the CBBC slot for children.
Teletubby made from yellow synthetic fabric. Curled 'antenna' attached to crown of head. Inner ears made from pale brown synthetic fabric. Rectangular section at centre front chest made from blue texturised plastic material with a coating that gives it an iridescent effect. Face made from pale brown moulded plastic. Details printed on in black, white, and two shades of brown. Soles of feet made from grey synthetic fabric. Palms of hands made from different type of yellow fabric. Stitching in yellow thread to delineate fingers. Horizontal opening at back to allow for insertion of a hot water bottle; fastened with yellow Velcro. Interior of toy is padded with Polyester wadding. Interior lined with white synthetic fabric. Yellow braided hanging loop at crown of head.
