Roman pottery lamp
Figure of eight form. Open 'type' oil lamp in red clay, large round wick holder/area droops slightly from main body, so would not have sat on a flat surface unless the wick area was hanging over the edge. Handle is missing, clay is coarse and has large inclusions of sand and grit, the fabric is unevenly oxidised. There is an old crck at the union between the main body and the wick area, it seems as though the base of the main body was formed seperately and the edge and sides were added to it, possinly a central coil of clay.
There has been some repair work done in the past which has since broken off - modern.
Most pieces are present and complete.
