Pot-lid

Pratt, F. & R.and Co.

Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Children Sailing Boats in a Tub' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing the interior of a scullery-like room with four crouching children blowing at a toy sailing boat afloat in a pail of water in the middle of the tiled floor, the print enclosed by a narrow circular dotted border. The glaze crazed.
