Welt knife
A cutting tool used for levelling and trimming the surface of the welt of the shoe after it is sewn in. The most common type of knife used for trimming the welt, it is worked by pushing. The curved shank has a cutting edge ground across the end, leaving a 'finger guide' at the side. This acts as both guide and fence which prevents damage to the leather of the upper when being run along the surface of the welt.
