Late Iron Age copper alloy terret

Massive cast copper alloy terret of with an iron attachment bar concealed within the casting. The loop is of circular cross section and thins towards the top of the terrett and a decorated hump projects into the interior. This hump is slighlty off centre, flattned on top and decorated with three vertical and two diagonal incised lines. The base is slightly irregular and worn more on one side than the other. Terret of this type are found more frequently in Northern Britain with the best parallels from Yorkshire and Southern Scotland (Macgregor, 1976).
