Slate food chest
A rectangular food chest made from slate, wood and metal, painted cream. The top and bottom of the food chest is made of slate. There are two internal shelves which are also made of slate. There is wire mesh on both sides of the food chest, and on the door.
Food chests of this type were commonly used between the turn of the eighteenth/nineteenth century and the 1920-30’s to keep food cold.
The chest was previously owned by Ceri Foulkes who lived in Deiniolen.
