Dish, dessert
Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Boat-shaped dessert dish, soft-paste porcelain, good clear translucency and a lustrous glaze, shrinking back inside the foot rim, and with pin holes and minor flaws; oval form, lobed rim with extended crenellated handles; the exterior decorated with a line of deckel-edged gilding at the foot and lip, and painted on each side with the same three stylised arrangements of flowers, including a 'bearded tulip'. These three groups of flowers are repeated inside the rim, with six smaller sprays of flowers below, and a central bouquet; the handles decorated with foliate scrolls and seeded panels of gilding.
