Plate, clear pressed glass, with slightly inset base and sides curving out to a horizontal rim with scalloped edge; decorated with inscriptions moulded in relief on the reverse and comprising raised dots, '* BADEN POWELL * MAFEKING' round the rim, 'BESIEGED / 7 / MONTHS / V / R / 17 MAY / 1900 / RELIEVED' in the centre with two crossed union flags.
