Massive Intertidal Jar

This huge, beautiful moon jar is completely handmade, an impressive feat of skill, concentration and hard work. Adam Buick is fascinated by the landscape and incorporates local materials in his pots. This one has Waun Llodi clay splashed on the surface and a plinth of natural Pembrokeshire bluestone.

Jar, glazed red orange stoneware, massive Moon Jar form, gently undulating rim, resting on a large, natural bluestone plinth; the surface has been decorated with Waun Llodi clay collected in the vicinity of the artist's studio, which was thrown onto the surface to create a natural and gestural effect, the body is largely covered with a glaze in variegated shades of blue, though areas of the underlying body are visible where the clay was thrown onto the surface, producing a 'torn' effect, the underlying stoneware is also visible near the foot, where the glaze has gathered in large drips.
