Cup and saucer

Producer: Ansbach State Factory

Cup, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, rounded curving sides, scrolled loop handle; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to the front of the exterior body of the cup a coastal landscape with two figures unloading bales and bundles from a moored sailing boat, around the rest of the exterior sides of the cup are two floral sprigs, a further floral sprig to the interior bottom of the cup, a gilt band around the lower body, a gilt dentil edge to the interior lip-rim, the handle picked out in gilt. One side of the cup broken and repaired. Saucer, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, curving sides; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to the centre of the well a landscape with figures in a sailing boat and a rowing boat on an expanse of water with a large towered building on a promentary, to the rest of the well are two floral sprigs, a gilt dentil edge to the rim.
