Roman stone quern
Two fragments (c.40%) of an upper stone. Slightly splayed well dressed, edge. There is a recessed hopper surrounding the pivot hole, c. 1cm deep, 10cm. in diameter with rynd chase. There is a socket for a handle. The convex grinding surface is slightly worn, especially at the edge. Conglomerate with mainly vein quartz.
