John Lloyd (1771-1829) and George Thomas (1786-1859) of Llandyssil

John Lloyd (1771-1829) was the son of Maurice Lloyd of Llanfair Caereinion. Also a burgess of Montgomery, he lived at the Court, Abermule. Lloyd was a keen sportsman and is depicted with his hounds beside the Severn. The man with an otter-pole and a hunting horn is George Thomas (1786-1859), best known for his mock heroic poems on local events, including 'The Otter Hunt' and 'The Death of a Roman, a well-known hound, the property of John Lloyd, Esquire,' both published in 1817.
