Seal impression: Collegiate churches
Seated beneath a gothic-type canopy, St Edmund Rich, archbishop of Canterbury (canonised 1247). To either side, a shield: dext. three suns in radiance (Birch suggests for St Edmund), sin. a chevron between three towers, WYLE (for Bishop Walter de la Wyle, founder in 1269). In base, under a rounded arch, the provost habited and in prayer.
