Heart-shaped prayer book mark, with pinked edges (semi-circular cut-outs).
Constructed from two layers of cream-coloured glazed twill-woven cellulosic fabric (adhered) and printed ovals made from coated, tabby-woven cellulosic fabric, adhered to both sides. Both ovals have pinked edges (zig-zag). The front oval depicts an image of Jesus with one hand raised in blessing and the other holding the Sacred Heart with inscription above. Floral decoration using red and white paint (mixed in together) and green felt tip pen (?) are hand-painted on either side above the oval. A small dot of red and white paint is painted in the bottom centre of the oval. The oval on the reverse has a printed image of the sacred heart in the centre (in red, orange, yellow and black), surrounded by printed text (black). The pattern of the twill weave (of the heart-shaped fabric) reverses in at least five rows in the lower half of the heart, on both front and back, including the lowest tip of the heart. In these areas, the vertical yarns change from passing over two horizontal yarns and under one, to a pattern where they pass under two horizontal yarns and over one.
