Notes

Two handwritten pages written by Joseph Gazard (father of J. Shirley Gazard) relating to Richard Thomas & Co. Ltd. Pages are pinned at top left. First page is dated 29 August 1890 and is a list of shareholders. Second page is dated 28 August 1890 and is a list of major wage earners at Lydbrook tinplate works of Richard Thomas & Co. Ltd.

Note from Curator RPJ - re. first page. Note that R.B. Thomas = Richard Beaumont Thomas (1860-1917), son of Richard Thomas (1837-1916). The faint pencil note at the bottom of the sheet states "Lydbrook & Lydney in Joseph Gazard's hand". At this date Richard Thomas & Co. Ltd. only owned Lydbrook, Lydney and Melingriffiths tinplate works. This faint pencil note is assumed to be by J. Shirley Gazard (1921-1966), son of Joseph Gazard.
re. second page. Apparently written by Joseph Gazard. Note that F.T. Thomas = Frank Treherne Thomas (1865-1932); H.S. Thomas = Hubert Spence Thomas sons of Richard Thomas. The pencil cover note asddressed "Dear S" and signed "Dad" is presumably addressed to J. Shirley Gazard (1921-1966) by his father Joseph Gazard.
