Truss hoop
truss hoop which is driven down around the oak staves of a barrel or container to hold them together ready for firing and fitting the iron hoops in place; made from one piece of ash formed into a hoop, held in shape by iron brackets and bolts with rounded heads and ends; inside edge shaped to fit over the curved staves, the inernal diameter at the bottom of the hoop larger than at the top
