Child's apron

Pinafore style apron for young child. Worn by Katherine Tovey of Newport, about 1968-69. Bib top goes over shoulders and is stitched to waist at back. Apron skirt has band of self fabric, machine stitched into three sections forming pockets. Cotton fabric is printed overall with characters from the children's programme The Magic Roundabout an a blue ground. All edges and tops of pockets are bound with red bias tape which extends into two sets of ties (at neck and waist). Manufacturer's label inside back of neck.

The Magic Roundabout was broadcast on BBC1 from 1965 up to 1977. Due to its popularity, various toys and items were produced for children of the 1970s.
